What I Learned the Hard Way: A Festival Packing List From My Biggest Mistakes
A no‑fluff guide to packing for festivals, based on the things I forgot or over‑brought the first time around.

The first time I hit a multi‑day festival I thought more shoes meant more style points. I ended up lugging three pairs of boots, two sneakers and a pair of sandals - all of which took up space that could've been used for essentials like a refillable water bottle. Lesson one: pick one comfortable, broken‑in pair of shoes and stick with it.
I also learned the hard way that water is non‑negotiable. I showed up with a tiny bottle and a vague plan to find free refill stations, only to spend the whole day thirsty and constantly searching for a spot to hydrate. Bring a sturdy, reusable bottle and a small water‑filter pack if you can; staying hydrated keeps your energy up and your head clear.
Tech failures are a festival‑goer’s nightmare. I left my phone at home, assuming the venue’s Wi‑Fi would be enough, and when I finally got a signal my battery was dead. A compact power bank and a zip‑lock bag for your phone protect against rain and sweat, while a set of earplugs saves your hearing and lets you enjoy the music without the ringing afterward.
Finally, I underestimated the weather and the need for a light, packable rain poncho. I tried to improvise with a plastic bag and ended up looking like a soggy mess. A cheap, breathable poncho folds into a tiny pocket and can be thrown on in seconds, keeping you dry and your dance moves uninterrupted.
